Behind The Desk: Bobby Jersey
Mental health isn’t just something I think about – it’s something I actively work on every day. I’ve learned that staying strong, both mentally and physically, isn’t just about discipline. It’s about having a purpose beyond yourself, showing up for others, and knowing when to ask for help.
At Gar Wood, I try to lead with that same mindset. Work should be a place where people feel supported, not just for what they bring to the table but for who they are. I don’t believe in traditional leadership where it’s all about hierarchy – I believe in accountability, trust, and making sure we have each other’s backs. When people feel valued, they perform at their best.
Philanthropy and community are also a huge part of that. Giving back isn’t just about writing checks – it’s about showing up, being present, and using what we have to make a difference. Whether it’s working with Brent Sopel’s charity for dyslexia awareness, sponsoring hockey tournaments for union members, or just being part of something bigger than myself, I know that real success isn’t about what you achieve alone. It’s about what you build together.
At the end of the day, I want to create an environment where people don’t just survive – they thrive. Where mental health is just as important as business strategy. Where giving back is second nature. And where we all push each other to be better – not just for ourselves, but for the people around us.
